Trump warns of future attacks on Iran’s nuclear locations

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his administration's readiness to launch additional attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, declaring on Monday that Washington would “do it again, if necessary” in response to Tehran’s continued nuclear ambitions.

Trump’s remarks came after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi acknowledged the extent of damage caused by recent U.S. airstrikes targeting three key Iranian nuclear sites. “Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the Iran Nuclear Sites: ‘Damages are very severe, they are destroyed.’ Of course they are, just like I said,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

He also criticized a major U.S. news outlet, accusing it of minimizing the airstrikes’ effectiveness and calling for the dismissal of one of its journalists. According to early U.S. intelligence assessments cited in reports, the strikes may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by several months rather than crippling it permanently.

During a televised interview, Araghchi confirmed the impact of the attack, stating: “Our facilities have been damaged – seriously damaged…the extent of which is now under evaluation by our atomic energy organization.”

Despite the strikes, the Iranian official emphasized that the country remains committed to its uranium enrichment program. “We cannot give up enrichment because it is an achievement of our own scientists. And now, more than that, it is a question of national pride,” he said.

These developments unfold as Iran prepares for renewed nuclear discussions with the three European countries known as the E3—the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—in Istanbul, Türkiye later this week.

Previously, indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran had been progressing through Omani mediation. However, the process was disrupted when Israel launched a surprise offensive against Iran on June 13, sparking a 12-day conflict and derailing a planned round of negotiations that was set to take place two days later in Muscat.
